‘multi-award winning contemporary re-interpretation of a traditional walled garden’
Unveiling the "Subaru Cocoon Garden - Hampton Court Garden Festival 2025" with its intricate brickwork designed in the Medero Dark Grey K-Briq by the renowned Mike McMahon Studio.
The circular garden design reflects the K-Briq’s circular economy origins, and the project offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional walled garden, cocooned within a perforated Jali-inspired K-Briq wall - the intricate brickwork allowing dappled light to filter through while providing a framework for planting to weave through, doubling as an expansive insect habitat that wraps the garden.
The Subaru Cocoon Garden swept the board of awards and was also featured on BBC’s Gardeners’ World.
The showgarden highlighted the quiet crisis of how Britain’s rainforests have been vanishing for centuries. Once covering 20% of the UK, today there is only 1% remaining and temperate rainforests are now one of the UK’s most fragile and overlooked ecosystems.
